Kristi Palmer
Tahquamenon Area School 7-12 Counselor
Everyday brings new choices!
Greetings from your grades 7- 12 school counselor, Kristi Palmer. This is my 6th year as a public school counselor. I spent the first as an intern for the previous counselor, Judith Haupt and the the next three as the full time k-12 counselor. I have also spent several years substitute teaching in Newberry while I was the coordinator of a non profit, Luce County Communities that Care (CTC).
I moved to the Newberry area as a young teen with my siblings and parents. After graduating from Newberry High School, I joined the military and spent all four years of my military career in Oahu, Hawaii. During that time I earned my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. After returning to the mainland I became licensed in life and health insurance from the State of Michigan. Upon returning to the Newberry area, I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling.
I have two beautiful children, both who have grown up and
attend Newberry School's. I enjoy being with people, talking and helping
them organize and manage life events. I have always enjoyed baking
cakes being creative. A new passion of mine is traveling and trying new
things. I never seem to have enough time for my other hobbies like
scrapbooking.

Just for fun I included a picture of me in my Newberry High School cheerleading days!
